Over a year back ive seen the first look on Minecraft in VR and back then they used teleport movement! How do i set the movement to teleport instead of locomotion? Or is that not a thing anymore? No, sadly. You either have to get vivecraft for java or get used to the intense motion. Jeahwell actually i prefer my java version bought it all the way back when it releaed from notch himself :D anyways over the mediocre Win verion, but i just found out about vivecraft and it sounds awesome, as far as i can tell i probably wont be able to continue my Life in the woods safe i build!
Windows is decent. It's honestly best for performance. I can usually get way more chunks to draw in VR than I can get java to draw on pancake. It was amazing loading it up for the first time in flat and being able to fly up and see literally as far out as you can look, with an ini tweak to set the chunks loaded into the thousands. All at full FPS. Completely killed wanting to play Java edition for me where if I walk a football field or two away I can no longer see my ft tall structure.
Only because of mods, Bedrock has pretty much caught up with Vanilla Java in features except for combat, which is probably going to stay that way because of the nature of people playing on phones and such.

Teleportation is often implemented using some kind of a curve as the indicator for the teleportation path. One of the best examples of this type of locomotion system is Robo Recall.
This post will refer to the type of teleportation system described above as arc teleportation, because of the visible arc of the curve used to visualize the path. This post will explore the high level concepts needed to implement arc teleportation using three different techniques. Each technique is explained step-by-step and a Unity Package containing sample implementations for each is provided.
The provided Unity Package contains scenes that can be navigated using each of the three methods. Tracking space is referenced throughout this post. Most of the time the up direction of tracking space should be the same as the up direction of world space. The decision to use the up direction of tracking space was made to keep rays consistent even if the user moves to a surface that is at an odd angle.
Because every curve segment has to check for collision, it's a good idea to have a different number of visual segments and segments that are used to check for collision. Two line segments, S0 and S1 are created. S0 goes from the start point to the control point and S1 from the control point to the end point. Two new points, Q0 and Q1 are obtained by interpolating along S0 and S1 by some value t.
Create another segment, S2 by connecting Q0 and Q1. Interpolate along this segment by t as well, the result of this interpolation is a new point O2.
Changes in the pitch of the controller move the end point of the curve directly, the size of the curve is not affected by the controller.

This curve works by tracing the parabola of a projectile from the controller. The force of the initial velocity and acceleration of the projectile can be configured in the inspector.How To Make A Teleporter In Rec Room
Gravity is assumed to be in the down direction of tracking space, not world space. The direction of the initial velocity is the direction of the controller. The curve is traced a little further than the point at which the it returns to the height of the controller. The distance at which the curve will return to the same height as the controller can be found with the following formula:.
Some extra distance is added to the result of the above formula to allow the curve to drop below the horizon. This extra distance can be configured in the inspector. Performance wise, this is the most expensive of the three methods presented.In room-scale VR users can walk around, but limited space is a problem. Mobile VR users with only three degrees of freedom have to rely on head movement or controllers. Teleportation is a fun way to get around the limitations of VR.
Although not truly natural, users are accustomed to the concept of teleportation from sci-fi and fantasy, and it is not hard to implement. The Unity project for this tutorial is available for download here. To save space, Oculus Utilities and VR Sample Scenes are not included, but the source files that were modified are included in the top level of the project.
These files are OVRPlugin. Don't miss out! To get started, create a new Unity project, Teleporter. I haven't used VRchat yet waiting on Vive. Is this on a dev todo list, or are there strong opinions for or against adding this to VRchat? We are working on getting a kind of locomotion teleport in VRChat. We don't like straight up teleport because having users popping around the map instantaneously isn't great for a social setting, especially if we're going exploring or navigating big maps together. We should have this new locomotion scheme in app within the next month!
Also, how would legs even work with teleporting? In AltspaceVR, I usually see floating bodies which kind of annoys me. VRchat is nice because there doesn't seem to be a lot of people picking one default body and of those there aren't "mouthless legless robots". Because what's even the point with that? Popping in and out may look kind of funny, but I get major motion sickness in the Vive without teleport It was about 1 hour because I got a nice "guide" Brutebandit - thanks dude and I got so major motion sickness I am writing this now and thinking about taking a pill or going to sleep because the motion sickness. When you use the Vive, you need some kind of teleportation. So there has to be any kind of solution, if you do not like people hopping around. But maybe we just have to accept that in VR people are teleporting.
